What Does a Give-and-Take Relationship Look Like?

In healthy relationships, give and take goes back and forth in a balanced manner. Whether it is with your significant other or even with your closest friends, there should be some sort of balance to the relationship. For example, you might be the one who picks up after your friends or is the first person to reach out after a fight. You might also be the one who cooks for your friends or is the first to make plans with them.

While giving and taking is important in friendships, it can be dangerous when one friend gives too much and the other takes too little. This can cause the giver to feel drained and unappreciated. It can also cause the taker to feel resentful of their relationship and may eventually find themselves without a friend.

When one person does all the giving, the other can quickly become reliant on them and this is when things can begin to go wrong. The taker might start to realize that they no longer get enough from the giver or they could feel that they are being used and decide to break up with them.

In order to have a healthy and happy relationship, it is essential for both parties to understand their role and be able to compromise on what they are willing to do. This may require the person who is a giver to be willing to accept some of the changes that the other person brings to the relationship, such as new chores and tasks. what does a give-and-take relationship look like
